About

Wild Lapeer

Wild Lapeer is an event to celebrate Earth Day and local foods started by a group of dedicated volunteers led by Marian Listwak over five years ago. In the beginning the event was held in early April and drew 100-200 people. Now held on the last Saturday on April, the event attendance is 1,500 and programming is expanding every year to include various aspects of outdoor life in Lapeer while still remembering the event's Earth Day roots.

Wild Lapeer is still run mostly by volunteers, however in the last few years it has become part of Lapeer County Parks, falling under the Parks Department mission to promote the attractiveness of the county and also preserve the County environmental integrity.

The event is run by an executive committee and many helpful volunteers. The event committee consists of:
  • Jim Davis, Lapeer Historical Society
  • Ken Elwert, Director Lapeer County Parks
  • Marian Listwak, Event Coordinator
  • Robin Mallor, volunteer
  • Peter McCready, Chatfield School
  • Karen Page, volunteer
  • Kristy Walker, volunteer
  • Dave Wolfenden, American Speedy Printing and Lapeer Rotary Club
